Summary
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic 4K Assistant Teacher to support our preschool classroom.
In this role, you will work closely with the DPI licensed teacher to create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment for four-year-old children.
The ideal candidate enjoys helping young learners grow socially, emotionally, and academically through play-based learning, hands-on activities, and daily routines.
This position requires teamwork, patience, and a passion for early childhood education while supporting classroom management, preparing materials, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child.
Duties- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Support a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for four-year-old children.
- Help supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
- Provide active supervision to ensure children’s safety at all times.
- Assist with classroom management and guiding positive behavior.
- Prepare and organize learning materials, art supplies, and classroom activities.
- Support children’s development in social, emotional, language, and early academic skills.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom according to health and safety regulations.
- Assist children with daily routines, including handwashing, bathroom use, meals, and rest time.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and cooperative play.
- Observe children and share information with the Lead Teacher about developmental progress or concerns.
- Communicate respectfully with families and coworkers.
- Follow all center policies, procedures, and state licensing regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and end-of-day responsibilities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Completion of required state childcare licensing training or willingness to complete upon hire.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3–5) preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic attitude when working with young children.
- Ability to actively supervise and engage children throughout the day.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool-aged children preferred.
- Must pass background check and any required state clearances.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to follow center policies, procedures, and state licensing regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, and move actively with children.
