Job Overview

Capital Railroad Services (CRS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Railroad Bridge Construction Foreman – Heavy Civil to lead mobile bridge construction crews on complex heavy civil projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader with strong technical knowledge, a safety-first mindset, and proven experience supervising crews and coordinating subcontractors. As the on-site leader, you will manage daily operations, drive productivity, enforce safety standards, and work closely with Project Managers and Engineering to deliver high-quality bridge construction projects safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily jobsite operations for heavy civil railroad bridge construction projects
  • Supervise and lead crews of 5–8 employees, along with subcontractors as required
  • Conduct daily job briefings and safety meetings
  • Execute work in accordance with the overall project schedule
  • Oversee earthwork activities, including access roads, crane pads, and final site grading
  • Ensure proper setup, inspection, and safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, cranes, excavators, and related machinery
  • Utilize basic survey equipment for bridge and site layout
  • Perform assembly, operation, and recordkeeping (tonnage tracking) associated with pile driving operations
  • Coordinate daily with the Project Manager to align on production goals, quality standards, resources, methods, and scope considerations
  • Participate in planning labor, equipment, and construction methods for bridge projects
  • Accurately report crew hours and complete daily production reports by established deadlines
  • Monitor and manage crew productivity, implementing continuous improvement efforts
  • Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with industry safety regulations
  • Follow and uphold all company policies and procedures
  • Review and execute work based on engineer-approved plans and the project job portfolio
  • Exercise proper care, maintenance, and operation of company-owned equipment
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, HR, Safety, and other departments
  • Actively support and promote the CRS safety culture in coordination with the Safety Department
  • Monitor crew compliance with DOT regulations, including E-logs, vehicle inspections, and fuel records
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 3–5 years of construction and pile driving experience
    • Prior supervisory experience directing and organizing field crews
    • Experience reading and executing engineer-approved plans and specifications
    • Knowledge of and ability to operate a wide range of power tools (pneumatic, electric, hydraulic)
    • Experience with setup, inspection, and use of various scaffolding systems
    • Proven commitment to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
    • Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with crews and leadership
    • Basic computer skills for daily use of smartphones, laptops, and electronic reporting
    • Valid Driver’s License with a favorable driving record
    • Ability to gain and maintain E-Railsafe clearance
  • Preferred:
    • Class A CDL
    • Welding experience
    • Heavy equipment operation experience

Work Location

Mobile project sites within Capital Railroad Services’ operating territory. Company-provided transportation between job sites.
