The Dane County Department of Waste + Renewables (W+R) manages key environmental initiatives and services, including the Dane County Landfills, renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, Clean Sweep, and Construction & Demolition (C&D) recycling facility. This is a temporary (1-2 years), full-time, on-site role for a Construction Project Manager based in Madison, WI. The Department of Waste + Renewables is breaking ground on a new landfill, maintenance shop(s), scale house, and administrative/education center. This role will assist in the oversight of various construction projects, focusing on planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
Responsibilities also include construction inspections, coordinating and leading progress meetings, reviewing and processing invoices, and other work to advance the +$20M in construction over the next 1-2 years. This role will work closely with W+R's team of project engineers and project managers.
Start date on or around June 1, 2026 and work until June 1, 2027 (and possibly longer). Estimate between 20-50 hours per week based on project needs.
CompensationThis is a LTE role limited to 1200 hours per year (full time from approximately June 26 to June 27). Minimum compensation is $44.50 per hour with some flexibility for candidates with experience.
Qualifications- Proficiency in Project Coordination and Project Management methodologies
- Expertise in Construction Project Management and Construction Management practices
- Strong skills in Budgeting and financial oversight of projects
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Previous experience in construction or waste management projects is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations applicable to construction projects
- Proficiency in project management software is advantageous
