Job SummaryThe Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality control plan and overall quality control for the project. The QCM will ensure each construction project meets the meticulous standards of excellence that Richard Group embodies.
The position requires on-site reporting five days a week, living within proximity of the project location or receiving a housing allowance for relocation. Projects typically range from 1–3 years in length, and the QCM may be assigned to various project locations across the United States.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement construction sections of the project quality control plan, including the three phases of quality control, in compliance with Federal, DoD, and Navy requirements.
- Direct and approve the correction of any non-conforming or unsafe construction work performed under the contract.
- Monitor and approve the quality of materials, plans, surveys, fabrication, as-built drawings, and other construction-related work to ensure compliance with specifications, workmanship standards, and contract requirements.
- Review project plans for quality requirements.
- Plan and organize quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, incident reports, and corrective actions.
- Direct inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Maintain relationships with owners, clients, and subcontractors.
- Maintain appropriate documentation throughout the project including change order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
- Ensure timely and safe completion of projects in accordance with safety goals, while adhering to contract documents and project budgets.
- 10+ years of experience with a federal general contracting company.
- CQCM certified and has administered the three phases of quality control on multiple projects.
- Thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and building systems.
- Experience in federal sector projects.
- Experience in healthcare projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
- Ability to write and comprehend RFIs.
- Clear communication skills to home office, owner, and subcontractors.
- Availability to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as hospital construction occurs at all hours.
- Experience in Davis‑Bacon prevailing wage-required projects.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug test.
- Desire to stay and grow with the company dedicated to real team support through mentorship, accountability, and grit.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- OSHA 30 Certified.
- Experience managing projects of $20 million or more.
