Job Summary /

Description:

This isn't just about filling time slots; it's about owning the evening narrative across every screen - from the TV in the living room to the phone in a viewer's hand. If you're a strategic thinker who can pivot on a dime when news breaks and still keep your team focused on the big picture, you're exactly who we need at WMTV.

As the evening executive producer you aren't just a manager, you're a mentor helping the next generation of journalists find their voice. We strive to innovate  don't just do things  the way they've always been done.  We are evolving and you'll be at the forefront of that change. You'll also work in one of the best cities in the country, with a team that loves where they live.

Ready to lead the evening and make your mark in Madison? Let's talk.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead the evening charge. Oversee the strategic execution and presentation of our 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 PM newscasts, ensuring every show is punchy, relevant, and urgent.
  • Coach your team. Work one-on-one with producers to help them grow their shows, sharpen their presentation, and find the  wow  factor in every rundown.
  • Own the editorial call. Make the tough decisions on story placement, reporter script approval, and breaking news coverage with confidence and clarity.
  • Reroute and respond. Act as the air traffic controller for our reporters, moving them quickly to where the action is as news develops.
  • Execute major initiatives. Partner with the News Director to bring station staples to life - from high-stakes Election coverage to our station initiatives in the community.
  • Drive the digital mindset. Ensure our content doesn't just live on air, but sparks engagement across all digital and social platforms.
