Position Summary
Access Celebrate Smiles program works to prevent tooth decay and educate children about good oral health. This program brings licensed dental staff to local schools, screening children in grades 4k‑8, and provides dental sealants, fluoride varnish, dental cleaning and restorative treatment as needed. Children in the program become Access dental patients and can receive ongoing care at an Access dental clinic.
Responsibilities- Work effectively on a team and communicate respectfully based on shared goals and mutual respect.
- Accurately schedule and register patients seeking an appointment; create new medical records, enter and verify demographics, account and coverage information.
- Schedule appointments, take and route messages to clinic staff, and update the dental record with documented treatments.
- Assist dentists by preparing examination rooms, preparing equipment, handing instruments, and anticipating their needs throughout the appointment.
- Ensure patients flow through scheduling and treatment processes quickly and efficiently while providing compassionate interaction.
- Travel daily to elementary and middle schools in the Madison and Sun Prairie area.
- A high‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate in dental assisting from an accredited technical college or at least 6 months of dental assisting experience.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of one year of customer service/telephone/reception experience.
- Experience with a personal computer, keyboarding/typing, and use of various internet applications and email.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Previous medical/dental appointment scheduling or registration experience.
- Medical/dental terminology knowledge.
- Experience with EPIC or other electronic health record software system.
Experience providing dental treatment and care to patients in a community health setting is desirable.
