Position Summary

As the Special Education Teacher, you will provide educational services in the MJTC. You will be responsible for all individual education plan (IEP) documentation associated with the patient's status, including designing the draft and completing the final IEPs, and all IEP meeting responsibilities and requirements.

Duties include:

* Serving as the primary school liaison with the patient's family and/or guardian as appropriate. Instructional delivery is consistent with the Wisconsin Academic Standards for patients not yet graduated from high school.

* Planning and delivering instruction as well as monitoring student progress for all instructional areas.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $30.01 and $38.03 per hour (approximately $62,400 and $79,000 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The maximum of the pay range includes a potential add-on of up to $2.97 per hour which is available for relevant credits above a bachelor's degree. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule/range 13/04.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:

* Licensure or eligible for licensure by the Department of Public Instruction in any general education studies up through grade 12 or Cross Categorical Special Education (2801).

* Eligible is defined as your license application is currently in progress with the WI Department of Instruction or you currently hold a license in one of the above categories in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Wisconsin.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

* Experience working with students with significant behaviors and mental health needs.

* Experience using trauma informed best practices which includes understanding the impact of trauma.
