The Library Director plays a dynamic leadership role, guiding a team of library professionals with vision and purpose. This position oversees all aspects of staffing—from recruitment and onboarding to performance evaluation and professional growth—while fostering a collaborative work environment. With a keen eye on strategic resource management, the Director develops and administers departmental budgets to ensure operational excellence. As a passionate advocate for the library’s mission and services, the Director builds strong relationships with campus leadership and stakeholders, championing the library’s essential role in academic success.
They coordinate and deliver robust reference services both in-person and online, supporting research and learning across disciplines. Through thoughtful planning and continuous assessment, the Director drives the development of innovative research support services and information resources. The director will provide leadership to serve a growing portfolio of doctoral and master’s online programs populated by international students, many of whom engage exclusively in virtual learning environments.
By partnering with faculty, academic departments, and student support teams, they help elevate learning outcomes and ensure the library remains a vital, evolving hub of intellectual engagement.
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in academic library administration
- Expertise in library operations, reference services, and academic support programming.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across campus departments.
- Proven leadership experience in academic libraries or related educational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations and lead teams.
- Dedication to student success.
- Strong commitment to the Edgewood University mission as a Catholic institution in the Dominican tradition.
- Comprehensive familiarity with the current trends in academic libraries, digital scholarship, and student learning support.
- Experience with strategic planning, assessment, and advocacy in higher education environments.
