July 6-9, 28-31, August 10-14:
Virtual SOAR - hours variable and remote
Other hours and days available as requested. Students must be available all or most in-person dates to be considered.

Qualifications- Current degree-seeking College of Agriculture and Life Sciences undergraduate student
- At least one semester completed at time of application
- Continuing student status for Summer 2026 term or Fall 2026 semester
- Available for all training dates and most SOAR sessions
- Ability to work in-person at a designated on-campus work location
- Show pride in being a student in CALS and at UW-Madison
- Have a commitment to welcoming all students and building an inclusive UW-Madison community
- The ability to work with students with diverse identities, abilities, backgrounds, and experiences
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and seek information
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills
Job Duties
SOAR Peer Advisors work independently and collaboratively with CALS advising staff to provide new students with academic orientation and registration.
A training period will provide hired peer advisors with the information, procedures, and tools needed for this position.
During SOAR, peer advisors will:
- Welcome new students individually, in small groups, and via presentations
- Provide information and answer questions about CALS degree requirements and programs
- Assist students with course selection and use of enrollment tools (MyUW, Course Search & Enroll, Guide)
- Share information about co-curricular activities and student life at UW-Madison
- Additional daily tasks as needed to support advising operations
