Job Summary:
The Intramural Sports Professional Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will gain valuable campus recreation and leadership experience by having active involvement in the overall program development, programming, and evaluation of personnel. The intern will gain leadership experience in Intramural Sports, marketing, financial management, facility operations, and personnel management, all while serving as an ambassador for University Recreation & Wellbeing to the UW-Madison campus and community.
- Assist with the supervision, management, and mentorship of 40 student supervisors.
- Manage and execute programming responsibilities for select Intramural Sports leagues and special events, including revision of rules, marketing, registration, communications, reschedules and playoff format, inventory control, assessment & evaluation.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Sports supervisors and Intramural Sports officials and scorekeepers.
- Maintain daily office hours to assist with administrative duties including answering phone calls and e-mail correspondence, stocking first aid kits with proper supplies, record retention and filing, and customer service.
- Maintain a presence at Intramural Sports events.

Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates logistics for events and programs
- Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
- Prepares and monitors budgets and purchases expenditures as needed
- Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum, all staff meetings, divisional committees, and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities.
- Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures
- Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring, training, and supervision

$22.50/Hour
Work Schedule:
This position works an average of 30 hours per week. The typical schedule is Monday
- Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.
- 4 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend support required.
Academic Professional Internship Information:
- Internships are limited-time employments lasting 9 months or 1,040 total hours
- Internship dates are approximate and will run mid-August 2026 to May 2027
Education:
- HS Diploma - Required
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field with cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 (or advancing towards with anticipated graduation by August 2026)
