Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Instructional Supports & Service Delivery
- Provide supplementary instruction for targeted English Language Development for English Learners (ELs) in general education environments across program types (e.g., ELI, DLI-DBE, Hmong Heritage Programs). Include guidance on the role of supplementary instruction in addition to core instructional programs.
- Provide English language development instruction for EL students who have been in US schools for less than one calendar year for key content areas in high school.
- Establish consistent communication with Bilingual Resource Specialists (BRS) regarding student needs, instructional support, and family outreach; promote inclusive school-wide environments for ELs.
- Coordinate service delivery with building administrators and Multilingual Services and Programs staff; ensure compliance with district protocols and ESL services; participate in school-based placement and scheduling teams respecting state and federal requirements.
- Collaborate with librarians and Instructional Coaches to purchase culturally and linguistically relevant materials.
- Participate in discussions on academic, transition, graduation, and career planning for ELs; serve on MTSS teams to ensure culturally and linguistically responsive practices in the referral process; participate in IEP meetings for ELs to represent language development needs.
- Provide assessment support, including administering ELP assessments and screeners (e.g., WIDA Screener Online, ACCESS 2.0); monitor EL access to grade-level curriculum and collaborate on appropriate assessment scaffolds.
- Family Involvement
- Serve as a communication link among students, families, and school staff; participate in conferences involving ELs; coordinate with BRS and staff to communicate with families; provide information about MMSD and the U.S. educational system related to EL services.
- Bilingual Resource Teachers and 4K Support
- Provide ELD support in general education environments; support 4K language development, routines, and observational documentation; review 4K benchmarks; collaborate with teachers to embed language strategies.
- EL Case Management
- Act as case managers for ELs, explain data forms to parents, document EL data, and maintain records; manage EL monitoring statuses and coordinate with families and central office; assist with EL records and communications about language support services.
- Capacity Building
- Promote teaming models, integrate targeted language instruction, monitor language development, and provide professional development with building coaches on EL best practices.

- Bachelor’s degree; official transcripts required for formal employment.
- Native-like fluency in Spanish and English; for Bilingual Resource Teacher and Dual Language programs, a Spanish proficiency assessment is required.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license required in Elementary School (Regular Education), Bilingual/Bi-Cultural, and ESL (preferred).
- Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Fully licensed applicants are prioritized; unlicensed applicants may be considered with conditions.
- If you do not have an active Wisconsin teaching license, you must obtain and maintain the necessary licenses within 30 days of starting; failure to do so may void the contract. DPI licensing resources:
One Year with Stipulations and approved programs as listed by DPI.
- Upon successful application, you’ll receive testing information for reading, writing, and oral language proficiency assessments to determine eligibility. If you pass, the hiring manager will review your materials and may contact you to schedule an interview.
- Travel within the district to meet locations and off-site meetings; some positions require evenings, nights, or weekends. In-person school-based roles unless otherwise directed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and occasional stooping or reaching; ability to work in varying indoor/outdoor environments and weather conditions.
