Job Summary
Serve as a Teaching Specialist in the Department of Chemistry for General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.
Courses taught may include:
Chem 103 – General Chemistry I;
Chem 104 – General Chemistry II;
Chem 327 – Fundamentals of Analytical Science;
Chem 343 – Introductory Organic Chemistry;
Chem 344 – Introductory Organic Chemistry Laboratory;
Chem 345 – Intermediate Organic Chemistry;
Chem 563/564 – Physical Chemistry Lab.
- Participate in labs and discussion sessions.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Hold office hours.
- Preparation time for course activities.
- Proctor examinations.
- Grade assignments and exams.
Position may be extended in subsequent semesters and can be part‑time or full‑time (50‑100% of workload) depending on courses assigned.
Key Job Responsibilities- Facilitate classroom and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
- Assist with the development of instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction under the direction of an academic staff or faculty member.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course or series content and expectations.
Minimum salary is $50,000 per academic (9‑month) year for full time (100%). Salary for summer term appointments is prorated based on appointment percentage and duration.
Required Qualifications- Completed advanced college chemistry courses.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field required.
- Experience teaching courses at the college level.
