Sprouts Nature School is a nature-based program for children ages 4 to 12, rooted in play, exploration, and hands‑on learning in the outdoors. We believe children thrive when given the freedom to learn through experience in a natural setting. Our mission is to inspire curiosity, foster resilience, and build a deep, lasting connection to the Earth.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, energetic, and creative Part‑Time Outdoor Educator to join our teaching team. The ideal candidate has experience working with children outdoors and is passionate about facilitating meaningful, nature‑based learning experiences. This educator will help lead daily outdoor programs that include exploration, skill‑building, games, storytelling, and hands‑on projects in all weather conditions.

Schedule
  • Start Date:

    Immediately
  • Hours:

    15–30 hours per week
  • Availability:
    Between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Specific schedule will be based on staffing needs and your availability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and co‑lead outdoor programming for children ages 4–12
  • Set up and clean up learning spaces and materials each day
  • Transporting children to/from programming location
  • Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate activities such as:
  • Fire building and fire safety
  • Campfire and outdoor cooking
  • Nature‑based art and crafts
  • Team building and mindfulness games
  • Seasonal exploration and group hikes
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children feel confident and connected
  • Support the physical, emotional, and social well‑being of all children
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to plan curriculum that responds to the children’s interests
  • Model respect for nature, empathy, and curiosity
  • Assist with online administrative tasks such as invoices and parent communication
  • Social media and web development
  • Lesson planning, prep and cleanup ie. organizing camp materials, shopping for supplies
Qualifications
  • Experience working with children, ideally in outdoor or experiential education settings
  • Passion for child‑led, nature‑based learning
  • Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Preferred:
    • A degree in Education, Environmental Education, Outdoor Leadership, or a related field
    • CPR/First Aid certification
Compensation

$20 to 24 per hour depending on experience
