Dynamic and energetic teachers are sought to support a diverse student body at Orchard Ridge Elementary, a Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) school. Teachers will work under the district’s commitment to anti‑racism, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive excellence.
Responsibilities- Use standards (CCSS, SELS, Language) to identify common learning targets for all students.
- Apply knowledge of student background, interest, culture, and assessment data to inform planning.
- Develop daily, weekly, and year‑long plans that support mastery of standards.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students.
- Instruct students individually and in groups with lectures, discussions, and demonstrations to build engagement, collaboration, and independence.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.
- Provide opportunities for students to describe reasoning, share explanations, justify conclusions, and negotiate meaning.
- Define and plan formative assessments that provide evidence of learning.
- Use multiple assessment strategies, reteach, and adjust instruction based on gathered data.
- Give meaningful feedback that reinforces effort and promotes progress.
- Offer teacher‑to‑student, student‑to‑student, and student‑to‑teacher feedback orally and in writing.
- Analyze data and adjust instruction based on student achievement and practice data.
- Establish and maintain classroom rules and procedures to sustain student order.
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and determine priorities.
- Collaborate with all staff to support student learning, including team planning and co‑teaching.

- Bachelor’s degree (official transcripts required).
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Regular Education and/or Secondary Core Content Area.
- Travel to different locations and off‑site meetings may be required.
- Position may require evenings, nights, and some weekends.
- Hybrid work flexibility may be possible depending on the position; details discussed in interview.
- School‑based positions are required in‑person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.
Work under generally safe and comfortable conditions with minimal exposure to environmental hazards. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, walk, sit, stoop, and reach occasionally. Manual dexterity needed for general tasks and office equipment. May require prolonged stationary periods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors throughout the year, including inclement weather and environments with varying temperatures.
