Position: Instructor, Electronic Technology Technician (Part-time)

Overview

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering 170+ programs and pathways to a career in one to two years. MATC aims to transform lives and communities by preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow.
Part-Time positions; 3 vacancies for Fall 2026 (mid-August start). Hours vary based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom and laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor/revise to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committees in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program; participate in recruitment, retention, and MATC marketing efforts.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements (select)
  • Must have one of the following:
  • 1) Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited school; or
  • 2) Associate's degree (ASS) in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with Bachelor’s in any discipline; or
  • 3) Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics with seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of experience and training, including one (1) year of supervision/management in Electronic Technology - Project management, Service or Production Testing.

Occupational

Experience:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time or equivalent (4,000 hours) experience in Electronic Technology - Design Development, Service, or Production Testing. In addition, one of the following must be met:

  • At least one (1) year of work experience within the last five (5) years; or
  • Two (2) years of teaching Electronic Technology, Electromechanical, Mechatronics coursework at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.

Industry or Vendor Preferred Certification or Licensure:

  • Certified IPC Trainer (CIT)

Additional

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.
  • Meet WTCS instruction certification requirements; see MATC site for details.
  • Meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable).
  • Ability to relate successfully with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Start Date and Hours

Start:
Fall semester 2026 (August 10).

Hours:

Part-time faculty pool; assignments depend on course availability and department needs. All work must be performed in Wisconsin. Flexibility to teach in various modalities and times (in-person, daytime, evening, weekends).

Compensation

Salary:
Starting at $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty also receive compensation for 45 minutes of prep/office hours per teaching hour (equivalent to $70 per hour). Rate is non-negotiable.
