Grade 7 Language Arts Teacher – Hamilton (0.1 FTE, 26‑27 SY)
Hamilton Middle School is hiring a Grade 7 Language Arts Teacher for a 192‑day, 0.1 FTE position. The role is Exempt and will support student achievement and growth through engaging instruction and data‑based planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Use standards (CCSS, SELS, Language) to identify common learning targets and develop lesson and unit plans that support student mastery.
- Apply knowledge of student background, interests, culture, and assessment data to inform instructional design.
- Plan daily, weekly, and annual courses, establishing clear objectives and communicating them to students.
- Instruct students individually and in groups using diverse teaching methods to build engagement and independence.
- Adapt instruction and materials to meet varying student needs and interests.
- Provide opportunities for students to describe reasoning, share explanations, justify conclusions, and negotiate meaning.
- Plan formative assessments and use multiple strategies to check for understanding, clarify concepts, reteach, and adjust instruction.
- Offer meaningful feedback that reinforces effort, recognizes achievement, and promotes student involvement.
- Facilitate teacher–to‑student, student‑to‑student, and student‑to‑teacher feedback both orally and in writing.
- Analyze data and adjust instruction based on student achievement, observation, and practice data.
- Establish rules and procedures for maintaining student order and behavior.
- Meet with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and identify resource needs.
- Collaborate with staff in team planning, co‑teaching, and instructional improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree with official transcripts.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Regular Education and/or Secondary Core Content Area.
Applicants must be fully licensed. Unlicensed candidates may be considered if they obtain a one‑year license with stipulations within 30 days of hire. The district does not provide financial support for required coursework.
Physical RequirementsThe position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, walk, sit, stoop, or reach for extended periods. Work may occur in varied indoor and outdoor conditions year‑round.
Working ConditionsWork may involve travel within the district, off‑site meetings, evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional remote components, though school‑based positions are in‑person unless directed otherwise.
