Job Summary

The Engineering Student Center within the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering (CoE) seeks a dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as the Student Organization & Engagement Manager. This position plays a central role in advancing student engagement, leadership development, and co‑curricular learning across the College.

The Student Organization & Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting nearly 70 engineering student organizations by providing guidance on organizational operations, ensuring compliance with university policies, and fostering inclusive, high‑impact student experiences. The role includes overseeing the planning and execution of large‑scale programs and events that enhance community, belonging, and professional development within the engineering student population.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institution’s mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.
  • Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • May monitor the program budget and approve expenditures.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program or unit.
  • Serves as the program or unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Advises and enforces Institution policies related to services in Student Affairs.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in college student affairs, student organization advising, or campus engagement.
  • Experience in developing and implementing student‑centered programs and services.
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops and programs on topics such as leadership, conflict resolution, cultural competency, and organizational management, ideally for student organizations.
  • Experience leading and supporting large‑scale events and programs.
  • Experience designing or delivering programs, advising, or services for students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of student development concepts, theories, and issues pertaining to college students.
  • Experience working with students interested in pursuing STEM fields.
  • Experience managing budgets, grants, or resource allocation processes.
  • Experience advising student governance bodies or councils.
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating program success.
  • Experience working on a team to create, implement or deliver projects or programming.
Education

Bachelor’s degree required—preferred area in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, STEM, or related field.

Master’s degree preferred—preferred area in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, STEM, or related field.

Benefits

The starting salary for the position is $60,000 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).
