Position Summary
Teachers (4116.31)
Responsibilities- Instruct students to the best of their ability within the curriculum plan adopted by the Board and utilize the services of the Division of Instructional Services and the building principal to continually improve instructional techniques.
- Participate actively in committees that deal with planning, research, curriculum, public relations or other professional activities undertaken in the school or system, and attend building and District faculty meetings.
- Exercise proper supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies and equipment provided for use; instruct students in the care and proper use of school property; and report promptly any abuses requiring administrative or legal action.
- Maintain classroom control that fosters the best learning situation, inform the principal, and seek assistance when necessary.
- Manage and supervise all students; receive specific assignments from the principal as required.
- Open and close the school’s sessions or class schedules punctually at the hours designated by the Board.
- Acquaint themselves with the Board’s rules and regulations and enforce them within their jurisdiction.
- Observe pupils to identify defects that hinder work and report such situations to the principal.
- Prepare lesson plans, records and reports as required by the principal or central office.
- Work cooperatively and communicate as needed with parents in the best interests of the students.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license
- Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
- Able to walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in an emergency situation.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, respond to active crisis situations and support student movement.
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building.
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm.
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
