Employment Details
High School Operations – Memorial High – 192 days contract. Annual salary: $52,154 (25‑26 TE Salary Schedule).

- Instructional Supports & Service Delivery
- Provide supplemental instruction for targeted English Language Development to English Learners in general education environments.
- Provide English language development instruction for students in the U.S. for less than one calendar year in key content areas.
- Establish consistent communication with Bilingual Resource Specialists regarding student needs, instructional support, and family outreach.
- Help create school‑wide welcoming environments and support inclusion of EL students in instructional settings.
- Serve as an integral member of the school‑based team responsible for student placement and scheduling to ensure compliance with state and federal law regarding ESL services.
- Work with librarian and/or Instructional Coach to purchase culturally and linguistically relevant materials.
- Participate actively in discussions of academic, transition, secondary options, graduation, and career/vocational post‑secondary planning for ELs.
- Serve on the Student Support and Intervention Teams (MTSS) to ensure culturally and linguistically responsive practices throughout the referral process when the student in question is an EL.
- Participate actively (not as an interpreter) in IEP meetings for ELs to represent the student’s language development needs.
- Provide assessment support: administer English proficiency assessments (WIDA, ACCESS 2.0); monitor students’ ability to access grade‑level curriculum; collaborate with non‑ESL staff; provide professional learning to colleagues; support teachers with observation tools; collaborate with School Testing Coordinators for accommodations.
- Family Involvement: serve as a communication link among student, families, and school staff; participate in parent‑teacher conferences; collaborate with Bilingual Resource Specialists; provide families with information on MMSD and the U.S. educational system.
- Support Bilingual Resource Teachers in providing English Language Development support across program types.
- Provide support in 4K environments for social language development and instruction routines; collect anecdotal notes, review 4K benchmarks, embed language strategies during planning time.
- Act as EL Case Managers: advocate for EL students, explain EL Data Management forms, document EL data, perform assessments, create ILP forms, maintain records, notify parents, monitor academic progress, consult staff, assist in removing misidentified EL status.
- Capacity Building: promote a teaming model during planning times; consult with general education staff; provide guidance on monitoring and reporting language development; provide resources on disability vs. second language; collaborate with Special Education staff; collaborate with building coaches for professional development.

- Bachelor’s degree. Official transcripts required for formal employment.
- Native‑like fluency in Spanish and English. For Bilingual Resource Teacher and Dual Language Immersion positions, a Spanish language proficiency assessment is required.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in High School (Core content – Math, Bilingual/Bi‑Cultural, ESL (preferred)).
- Applicants must be fully licensed before consideration. If not licensed, must obtain a license within 30 days of starting; failure to do so will void the contract.
- May require travel to different locations and off‑site meetings.
- Position may require working evenings, nights, and some weekends.
- Some positions may allow hybrid work flexibility for part of the schedule.
- School‑based positions are required to be in‑person unless directed otherwise by the building principal.
