Job Description Summary

Dual Credit Instructors facilitate student learning and continually develop instructional strategies that promote student success. They teach Fox Valley Technical College courses in high schools, enabling students to earn college credits. This collaboration enriches professional experience for instructors at both institutions while helping students become career and college ready.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support engagement. Employ learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies (hybrid, in‑person, virtual, online) to maximize success.
  • Assessment – Evaluate student learning, provide regular feedback, and use data to measure outcomes related to course success and learning. Implement evidence‑based improvement strategies.
  • Classroom Management – Maintain schedule, accurate attendance and grade records, a safe instructional environment, and opportunities for student engagement evaluation.
  • Team Participation – Engage with the department and K‑12 Partnerships office, stay current with internal and external changes and initiatives, and promote the College and its programs.
  • Student Success & Support – Advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students succeed.
  • Professional Development – Continuously improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, teaching, and employment in the field. Maintain DPI licensure.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employed as a K‑12 teacher within the agreed school district.
  • Associate degree or the degree/licensure level at which the dual credit instructor is teaching.
  • General Studies courses:
    Master’s degree or higher in the discipline or subfield, or equivalent graduate credits with a DPI license.
  • Occupational courses:
    Degree or licensure at the level being taught (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and course‑based certification through the respective FVTC academic unit.
  • Minimum of two years full‑time experience in a target occupational program or four thousand hours if part‑time.
  • One year of recent experience within the last five years; can be waived for two years of post‑secondary teaching experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
  • High School teachers must hold a current DPI license (required at time of application).
  • ASE credentials required for G1 & Auto area courses (e.g., A6).
  • Participation in FVTC Auto Tech Advisory Committee Meetings and annual Dual Credit Instructor training.
  • Proficient use of a learning management system.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; adaptability to changing demands.
  • Knowledge of learner‑centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative strategies that address achievement gaps across race, gender and disability.
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility:
    Move around classroom or instructional space.
  • Standing and sitting for extended periods during lectures, demonstrations, grading, office hours, and administrative tasks.
  • Lifting and carrying teaching materials or equipment up to fifty pounds.
  • Clear speech and hearing for effective instruction.
  • Fine motor skills for writing, experiments, and technology use.
  • Visual acuity adequate for reading materials and operating instructional equipment.
  • Ensuring a safe learning environment and responding to emergencies.
  • Performing repetitive motions such as typing without discomfort or injury.
Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a classroom and via a learning management system. Instruction must be completed in person, during the day, and may be adjusted based on college needs.
