Job Description Summary

Dual Credit Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the ongoing development of instructional strategies that promote student success. They are responsible for teaching Fox Valley Technical College courses at their high school. Well‑prepared and highly motivated high school students who successfully complete the course earn college credits. This collaboration between the college and its high‑school partners offers instructors at both institutions an opportunity to enrich their professional experience while helping students become career and college ready.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Learning Facilitation – Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Employ learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in‑person, virtual, and online course delivery.
  • Assessment – Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to course success and learning, and implement improvement strategies based on the evidence.
  • Classroom Management – Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain an instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student engagement evaluation.
  • Team Participation – Support the college by engaging with the department and K12 Partnerships office, as well as staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives. Comply with program area requirements related to course content, competencies, rigor, textbooks, and assessments. Proactively promote the college and its programs.
  • Student Success & Support – Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful.
  • Professional Development – Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices and teaching through professional development activities. Maintain DPI licensure.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or experience requirements vary depending on the discipline. Prior to applying, consult the Early College Credit Guide for specific credit‑course requirements. Qualifications include:

  • General Studies courses:
    Master’s degree or higher in the discipline or subfield; or Master’s degree in a different discipline plus 18 or more graduate credits in the discipline or subfield; or Master’s degree in a different discipline plus a DPI license in the discipline or subfield.
  • Occupational courses:
    Degree or licensure at the level being taught (Bachelor’s degree preferred); course‑based certification through the respective FVTC academic unit.
  • Minimum of two years full‑time (or 4,000 hours if part‑time) of occupational experience in a target job for the program. One year of experience within five years prior to appointment is required, though can be waived for instructors with at least two years of post‑secondary teaching experience.
