Position: Program Support Teacher SLP Teacher Leader - Doyle - 1.0 FTE - 26-27 SY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Staff Support and Organization

    Provide technical assistance, consultation/support and training to Speech/Language Pathologists, classroom teachers, special education assistants, and other school personnel.

    Create, plan, and present large group quarterly professional development meetings and monthly leadership team meetings, adhering to the SLP Professional Development Plan and MMSD priorities.

    Support collaboration efforts between families, community providers, and school staff.

    Provide professional learning and follow‑up support as needed in planning, conducting, and evaluating speech articulation, oral expression, voice, and fluency based upon development and skills.

  • Staff Training

    Train and support special staff in designing and adapting curriculum materials and instructional strategies to be used in a variety of educational environments (general education, special education, alternative education environments, and natural environments).

    Train staff and provide follow‑up support as needed in developing and implementing communication programs, including coordination with assistive technology program support teacher regarding alternative and augmentative communication systems.

    Train staff and provide follow‑up support as needed in functional behavioral assessments, behavior intervention plans, and developing positive behavior supports.

    Train staff and provide follow‑up support as needed in providing assessment and diagnostic teaching services to students with a speech and language impairment within the guidelines of an IEP.

    Train staff and provide follow‑up support as needed regarding the IEP process. Serve as a consultant on IEP teams as needed.

    Train staff and provide follow‑up support as needed in designing and implementing transition plans for students who are moving across levels or from school to post‑school life.

  • Department Support

    Support S.A.L.T. transcription, SALT platform, Q‑interactive, Go Claim and related training and purchasing.

    Maintain current knowledge and understanding of programming directions and research in the field of speech/language.

    Contribute to public awareness of speech/language and the services available through the district.

    Participate on MMSD Central Office Committees as a representative for Student Services and Speech/Language.

    Assist with making recommendations on annual speech/language assignments; including gathering information and then submitting a plan for speech/language assignments as per the MMSD/MTI contract language.

    Involvement in the interviewing process and training/support for newly hired SLPs and long‑term substitute SLPs.

    Assist with the coordination of logging for MA billing and communication with MA billing vendor.

    Communication and coordination with universities for student‑teaching placements and practicums with MMSD Speech/Language Pathologists.

  • Other Duties as Assigned

    Perform other duties as assigned by executive leadership or their representatives or designees.

    Attend district and school functions that support MMSD’s strategic framework, initiatives, and core values.

    Complete any and all district required training.

    Build collaborative relationships with business partners.
