International Student Support And Engagement Specialist
The Center for International Education at Madison College is seeking an International Student Support and Engagement Specialist to join the team in a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. This position provides comprehensive support to international students by advising on F-1 visa regulations, managing international admissions processes, and developing programming that promotes cross-cultural engagement, global citizenship, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Success in this role requires knowledge of F-1 visa regulations, international admissions processes, student advising, case management, and institutional support systems, in addition to developing, coordinating, and facilitating campus wide programming initiatives.
The International Student Support and Engagement Specialist serves as a Designated School Official, ensuring compliance with federal visa requirements while supporting international students before arrival, during enrollment, and after program completion. This position also supports application workflows, reviews visa authorization requests, prepares communications, and identifies process improvements to strengthen the international student experience.
The International Student Support and Engagement Specialist works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to provide guidance on international student needs, promote cross-cultural understanding, and enhance the college's ability to serve a diverse student population.
Position Details:
- Schedule:
This is a 1-year LTE position working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. This position will be onsite for the first 8-12 weeks, with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule thereafter. The hybrid work option is subject to change in accordance with Madison College policy. - Expected Progression:
This position includes an expected progression plan. Upon meeting departmental criteria, you will be eligible to receive a $1.00 per hour increase. - Benefits:

Accountabilities:
- Provides international student visa advising by serving as a Designated School Official (DSO), ensuring compliance with F-1 visa regulations and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of international education policies.
- Leads international admissions processes by managing application workflows, communications, checklist coordination and process improvements while reviewing escalated cases and training staff and student assistants.
- Develops and coordinates programming by creating events and promotional materials to promote cross-cultural understanding, global citizenship, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Supports faculty, staff and community engagement by providing guidance on international student needs, institutional support systems and strategies for improving retention through inclusive practices.
- Contributes to the promotion and implementation of recruitment initiatives.
- Supports operations and communications by managing email templates, responding to escalated inquiries, overseeing special projects and supervising student assistants and interns.
- Provides case management for international students by offering guidance before arrival, during enrollment and after program completion to support their transition and success.
- Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of F-1 visa regulations and best practices for international student advising.
- Knowledge of international admissions processes, including application workflows, document verification and case management.
- Skill in developing and coordinating programming that promotes cross-cultural understanding, global citizenship and student engagement.
- Skill in training staff and student assistants on international admissions, visa advising and institutional policies.
