Position: ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – BIOLOGY

Title: Part‑time Adjunct Instructor – Introductory Cell Biology (Fall 2026)

The Department of Biological Sciences at Edgewood University invites applications for part‑time adjunct instructors to teach introductory cell biology in the Fall of 2026.

Course Description – (Bio
155)

This one‑semester course explores the biological chemistry of the human cell, organized around the theme of the relationship between the chemistry of biomolecules and the functional biology of a cell. Topics include the nature of science, biochemistry of water, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids; cellular structures; energy transformations; mitosis; meiosis; the relationship between genotype and phenotype; transmission genetics and cancer.

The material is covered through a combination of lecture and laboratory.

Responsibilities

Instructors will plan, implement, and grade formative and summative assessments in both lecture and lab. They will work with other instructors to ensure alignment between different sections of the course. All courses are managed through an online LMS (Canvas), and instructors must maintain an updated course site throughout the semester.

Job Qualifications Necessary Education or Work Experience
  • Master’s degree or ABD in biology or a closely related field required; a PhD is preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching at the college level is highly preferred.
