Program Coordinator For Belonging Programs

The Program Coordinator for Belonging Programs is an integral member of the team primarily responsible for overseeing programmatic initiatives that support Multicultural Student Center dual-affiliated student organizations, including management of the dual-affiliation program (serving 90+ orgs annually) and administration of the MSC Grant which funds student organization events (disbursing up to $35,000 annually).

The program coordinator serves as a resource for affiliated student organizations by providing guidance, support, and referrals to effectively navigate university policies and procedures and by developing workshops and trainings that support organizational development, success and sustainability. The program coordinator maintains a network of communication with relevant campus partners, including the office for Student Organizations, Leadership & Involvement. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Belonging Programs.

Key job responsibilities include generating and analyzing reports of curricular and unit outcomes, managing the MSC's student organization affiliation program, supporting, supervising, and actively mentoring student interns, organizing student-focused programming and resources, creating and maintaining schedules, logistics, and resources for student affairs programs, activities, and/or services, and writing, editing, and publishing content for various communication projects and marketing platforms.

The position is located within the Student Affairs, Student Success and Belonging, Centers for Student Success and Belonging department. The Centers for Student Success and Belonging are organized within the Student Success and Belonging Theme Area of Student Affairs. Student Success and Belonging creates programming and operates spaces that provide support, advocacy, and co-curricular experiences that center, affirm, and celebrate UW students.

Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs, is dedicated to serving students and helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, student success and belonging, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy.

The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $50,000.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. Required qualifications include demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and executing student-focused events, programs, or educational initiatives; ability to facilitate dialogue groups, programs, and workshops; strong communication skills (written, oral, and electronic); ability to foster collaborative networks and partnerships to benefit students; and proven ability to manage multiple projects with complex logistics, including the successful management and supervision of multiple facilities, staff, or volunteers.

Preferred qualifications include capacity to make difficult decisions quickly and flexibility to handle multiple tasks; demonstrated ability to develop assessment strategies and utilize data to inform change; demonstrated experience applying student leadership theory and praxis in a higher education setting; theoretical and practical understanding of student development and the complexity of social identities, demonstrated through previous programming or student support work;

and experience working with, advising, or managing student organizations, including navigating registration processes, policy compliance, or funding/grants.

A Bachelor's Degree is required, with preferred degree areas including higher education/student affairs/organizational communication/development/leadership, or closely related areas. A Master's Degree is preferred.
