Job Summary:

The Department of Anthropology is seeking an Academic Advisor to serve as Undergraduate Program Coordinator in support of our students and the academic mission of our department. In addition to student advising, the individual in this position serves as the primary coordinator for the Anthropology Department undergraduate student program. As a member of our team this role provides information, student services, academic support, and program metrics to the Anthropology Department.

This position coordinates the annual department course teaching assignment process working in collaboration with the Department Administrator, Curriculum Committee, Department Chair and section chairs to develop and manage the Anthropology course timetable and enrollment. As Undergraduate Program Coordinator/Advisor, this role coordinates with faculty to ensure that all student requirements have been met and assists in resolving issues that may arise regarding classes, scheduling, enrollment, or transfer credits.

They ensure compliance with department and college undergraduate policies and procedures for the majors in anthropology and archaeology certificate students and advise undergraduate students on the process and their progress to degree. This role manages the department webpage, and social media and serves as primary contact for the department's undergraduate program. Our Academic Advisor serves as lead worker to our office support student worker.

Job Responsibilities:

* Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college

* Serve as curricular representative on department Curriculum Committee, responsible for department Timetable, Schedule of Classes, and enrollment management

* Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources

* Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies

* Manage department website content, coordinate and maintain department social media

* Proactively engages students as needed

* Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers

* Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures

* Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $48,000 - $53,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.
