Program Coordinator – Belonging Programs

The Program Coordinator for Belonging Programs is an integral member of the team, primarily responsible for overseeing programmatic initiatives that support the Multicultural Student Center (MSC) and its dual‑affiliated student organizations. The role manages the dual‑affiliation program (serving 90+ organizations annually) and administers the MSC Grant, disbursing up to $35,000 annually to fund student organization events.

As a resource for affiliated student organizations, the coordinator provides guidance, support, and referrals to help them navigate university policies and procedures. The coordinator develops workshops and trainings that promote organizational development, success, and sustainability, and maintains communication with campus partners, including the Office of Student Organizations and Leadership & Involvement. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Belonging Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and analyze reports of curricular and unit outcomes.
  • Manage the MSC’s student organization affiliation program, including the dual‑registration process, tracking of requirements, provision of benefits, convening leadership development workshops and conferences, and disbursing grant funds.
  • Organize student‑focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives.
  • Create and maintain schedules, logistics, and resources for one or multiple student affairs programs, activities, and/or services.
  • Write, edit, and publish content for communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on student affairs for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and executing student‑focused events, programs, or educational initiatives.
  • Ability to facilitate dialogue groups, programs, and workshops.
  • Strong written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to foster collaborative networks and partnerships to benefit students.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with complex logistics and supervise multiple facilities, staff, or volunteers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Capacity to make difficult decisions quickly and flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop assessment strategies and use data to inform change.
  • Experience applying student leadership theory and praxis in a higher education setting.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of student development and the complexity of social identities, demonstrated through previous programming or student support work.
  • Experience advising or managing student organizations, including navigati­ng registration processes, policy compliance, or funding/grants.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred areas: higher education, student affairs, organizational communication, development, leadership, or closely related fields.
  • Master’s degree preferred in the same areas.
Compensation

Base salary commences at $50,000 annually (adjusted for experience and qualifications). The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, tax‑advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System pension fund.
