Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, Clinical Practice, Innovation, and Research (CliPIR) Division invites applications for a 12‑month position at the rank of tenure‑track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor with tenure. The faculty member will join a division whose mission is to promote pharmacists’ roles in high‑quality, safe, and effective medication use through interdisciplinary research and education. The candidate will be responsible for developing an independent research program and for teaching PharmD students in the professional program, covering topics such as provision and payment of health services, health communication, pharmacy management, medication safety, quality improvement, pharmacy law, and ethics.
They will also contribute to the Health Services Research in Pharmacy (HSRP) graduate program with graduate‑student mentorship, teaching, and collaborative scholarship, and participate in service to the school, university, and profession. Applicants will be considered for all three professor titles; the title is determined by experience and qualifications. The anticipated start date reflects the earliest possible date; new hires may begin later.
This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation, and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative, which supports accelerated faculty hiring, research infrastructure, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student opportunities to address complex societal challenges.
Responsibilities- Develop an independent research program and secure external funding.
- Teach PharmD students in the professional program and contribute to elective courses as needed.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students in the Health Services Research in Pharmacy (HSRP) program.
- Conduct collaborative scholarship and participate in graduate program teaching.
- Serve on school, university, or professional organization committees.
- Engage in service to the school, university, and profession.
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in public health policy, health services research, pharmaco‑epidemiology, or a related field.
- Assistant‑professor candidates: demonstrated potential to establish an independent and externally funded research program and to teach at the PharmD and graduate level.
- Associate or full‑professor candidates: demonstrated sustained extramural grant support, research, scholarship, and teaching proficiency meeting tenure criteria at UW‑Madison.
- Expertise in large data science for developing and evaluating care interventions, including pharmaco‑epidemiology and pharmacoeconomics/health economics and outcomes research.
- Experience in health system transformation and implementation, pharmacy service evaluation and improvement, medication use safety and quality, patient‑centered care, or patient‑provider‑centered outcomes.
- Methodological expertise in quasi‑experimental and observational designs, qualitative and mixed‑methods research, large datasets, biostatistics, or implementation science frameworks or trials.
- Background in pharmacy practice (desirable but not required).
- Demonstrated mentoring of underrepresented scholars and ability to build public and private sector research partnerships.
- Experience with innovation co‑design with underserved populations and a history of successful internal and external grant submissions.
- Effective oral and written communication, teamwork, and collaboration across academic departments or schools.
Ph.D. (or equivalent) in public health policy, health services research, pharmaco‑epidemiology, or a related field.
