Library Media Technology Specialist - Sherman
Minimum Annual Compensation: $52,154 (25-26 TE Salary Schedule)

- Work with school leadership to ensure library hours, space, and seating provide flexible and optimal access for all learners, encouraging creativity and collaboration.
- Create a welcoming and accessible library space for all staff, students, and families.
- Build, maintain, and organize a comprehensive, current collection that supports different levels, languages, and cultures.
- Anticipate resource needs—both print and digital—through collaborative partnerships, regularly borrowing, lending, and responding to requests from other libraries.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate appropriate materials, both digital tools and print resources, that enhance teaching and learning.
- Spend Common School Fund allocation in accordance with state guidelines.
- Communicate policies and procedures to the school community (students, staff, and families).
- Instruct and direct support staff, volunteers, and student assistants.
- Curate, track, and monitor both digital and print resources via the resource manager.
- Collaborate with teams of teachers to implement information literacy, research, and digital citizenship best practices while planning, teaching, reflecting, and adjusting.
- Assist in developing collaborative projects across the building.
- Consult with teachers, staff, and school‑based leadership and offer professional development to integrate information and technology skills into all curricular areas.
- Model the use of online digital content and collaborative learning to support and extend student and staff learning opportunities anytime, anywhere.
- Model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.
- Support reading and create an environment where reading is valued for lifelong learning.
- Provide collaborative instruction that addresses multiple literacies such as written, audio, visual, and digital.
- Lead and model the use of emerging resources that allow students and staff to interact with, curate, and present information.
- Model and promote diversity, cultural understanding, and global awareness.
- Support students and teachers in the Gradual Release of Responsibility, moving students from dependence to independent learning.
- Collaborate with district and building leaders to conduct needs assessments and develop technology‑rich professional learning opportunities for staff members.
- Advocate for, promote, and report on the role and services of the school library media program and its impact on student achievement.
- Seek administrative support to ensure the library media program is a key component of student achievement.
- Communicate with students, staff, parents, and community and district partners to create awareness and promote the library and available resources.
- Serve on school‑based decision‑making teams.
- Advocate for equity and be passionate about closing the achievement gap, ensuring every child receives an excellent education.
- Seek and participate in learning opportunities aligned to SIP goals, the Ignite Plan, and stay current on issues and trends to provide building‑level leadership and expertise.
- Maintain current knowledge of professional practices and developments, information technologies, and educational research applicable to school library programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Strong technology skills applicable to instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree. Official transcripts are required for formal employment.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in one of the following areas:
- Initial Instructional Library Media Specialist
- Professional Library Media Specialist
- Library Media Supervisor
- Licensing requirement: A valid Wisconsin teaching license must be obtained and active within 30 days of employment. An unlicensed candidate may be considered but must be hired by a school district to apply for a One‑Year License with Stipulations with DPI.
- Leadership and coaching/training experience.
