The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is hiring a highly motivated Literacy Interventionist to provide direct services to students above and below proficiency in reading and literacy. The role includes diagnosing reading/literacy needs, delivering intensive interventions, data analysis, and providing professional development on MTSS.
Responsibilities- Diagnose reading/literacy needs using screening data and diagnostic tools.
- Deliver intensive, evidence‑based interventions to individual students or small groups.
- Monitor progress, maintain records of implementation fidelity, and report to MTSS and IDEA requirements.
- Provide interventions culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy.
- Collaborate with SBLT, teacher teams, and data point person to identify students in need.
- Assist in procurement of materials and resources.
- Participate in district‑level professional development on research, strategies, and data use.
- Coach and lead teachers on MTSS implementation and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license in Reading (1316 or 5017) covering the grade levels taught. Unlicensed candidates may be considered if they obtain a license within 30 days of starting employment.
- Experience in K‑8 literacy and Common Core State Standards.
- Proficient in implementing evidence‑based, research‑based interventions and data‑driven decision making.
- Knowledge of Multi‑Tiered System of Supports and comprehensive assessment systems.
- Cultural competency in an urban setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to an anti‑racist, culturally responsive, inclusive district philosophy.
- Preferred:
Reading Recovery/DLL certificate.
May require travel within the district, evenings, nights, some weekends, and moving up to 25 pounds occasionally. Position is required to be in‑person unless otherwise directed.
