Science Teacher at Gifford K-8 Campus
- Instruct students to the best of their ability within the curriculum plan adopted by the Board.
- Utilize the services of the Division of Instructional Services and building principal to continually improve instructional techniques.
- Participate actively in committees related to planning, research, curriculum, public relations, or other professional activities at the school or system level.
- Attend building and district faculty meetings as part of the teacher’s responsibility.
- Exercise proper supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies, and equipment; instruct students in the proper use of school property; and report promptly any abuses requiring administrative or legal action.
- Maintain classroom control that promotes optimal learning; keep the principal informed and seek assistance when necessary.
- Manage and supervise all students of the school, and may be assigned specific tasks outside the classroom by the principal.
- Open and close the school’s sessions or class schedules punctually at the hours designated by the Board.
- Acquaint oneself with the rules and regulations of the Board and enforce them within one's jurisdiction.
- Closely observe pupils to identify defects that hinder success and report such situations to the principal.
- Prepare lesson plans, records, and reports as required by the principal or central office.
- Collaborate and communicate with parents in the best interests of the students.
- Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
- Able to walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in an emergency situation.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, respond to active crisis situations, and support student movement.
- Perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
- Move throughout the building and from building to building.
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
- Complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm.
- Maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
