Nossi College of Art and Design is looking for an energetic and qualified adjunct instructor for the Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Illustration
.
Classes to be taught include:
- Basic drawing
- Anatomy & figure
- Environmental/Painting classes
- Color theory classes
The instructor will also be able to demonstrate the following abilities:
- Draw with a variety of mediums
- Use paint in a variety of paint mediums
- Understand and teach color theory
- Work with anatomy/figure
This adjunct teaching opportunity is a campus-based role in Nashville, TN.
POSITION CONCEPT
The Instructor/Faculty is the mainstay of the academic program and is a master teacher in their subject area. The Instructor must be an effective classroom manager, adaptable to a variety of situations, and able to relate well to students, other faculty members, and the administration of the College. They must also believe in and follow the philosophy of the College and support its policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree (Required);
Graduate Degree Preferred.1 year of teaching experience (preferred).Thorough knowledge of the subject matter being taught.Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and inspire learners.At least five years of professional experience working in the field that is being taught.RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach students according to approved syllabi. Changes may be made to the syllabus upon approval of the Program Chair, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and President.Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.During the first class meeting, inform students of all course requirements, all materials that will be needed, all classroom policies including absences and tardies, all grading procedures, and all project requirements.Take and record attendance for each class meeting separate from the students’ attendance sheets. Maintain all class records.Monitor and chart each student’s progress through observation, reinforcement, remediation, tutoring, and review.Assist students’ progress by way of weekly quizzes, mid‑term and final exams, and by maintaining a current record of all grades including projects and presentations.Counsel and advise students. Motivate students to do their best work.Report all students with personal or psychological problems that may hinder academic performance or may result in potential harm to themselves or others to the Student Services Director and College leadership.Ensure student grading is completed on time and entered into the gradebook consistently.Notify every student, in writing, of their mid‑term grade.Make sure that classrooms are in good order at the end of each class.Instructors must provide 3 ½ hours of learning opportunity for each class.Job Type: Part‑time
