Program Support Teacher – Special Education
Annual Salary:
Minimum Annual Compensation: $53,525 (26-27 TE Salary Schedule)

- Provide ongoing professional development, coaching, and modeling for Cross Categorical teachers and instructional teams to develop and deliver universally designed and differentiated curriculum.
- Use formative and summative performance data to guide and modify instruction, implement accommodations and modifications, and match instruction to student needs.
- Design and implement accommodations for statewide and district wide assessments for students with disabilities.
- Assist special education staff in planning for and evaluating high‑quality instruction and intervention practices, including evidence‑based academic and behavioral interventions.
- Participate in problem‑solving for struggling learners during student support and intervention team (SSIT) meetings.
- Support the implementation of IDEA procedural and substantive requirements and coach staff on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Collaborate with principals and instructional coaches to develop school infrastructure for a multi‑tiered system of support (e.g., MTSS, service delivery models, progress monitoring).
- Assist in analyzing data to identify gaps and growth areas, and develop professional development plans accordingly.
- Support systems change efforts and district areas of emphasis as needed.
- Chair new evaluations for students referred for special education and, when qualified, serve as evaluator.
- Develop staff capacity to conduct quality evaluations, IEP development, and ensure compliance with legal requirements of IDEA.
- Serve as local education agency (LEA) representative and liaison between school staff and district administration.
- Facilitate manifestation determination (MD) for students recommended for expulsion.
- Support Assistive Technology, extended school year planning, student mandatory learning assessment (SMAL), and referrals to intensive support teams.
- Attend mandatory meetings and professional development sessions as determined by Student Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director of Student Services.
- Bachelor’s degree (must submit official transcripts).
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Special Education.
- At least five years of experience providing instruction and services to students with disabilities.
- Graduate‑level degree (current or in‑progress).
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and evidence‑based practices.
- Experience with inclusion of students with disabilities in general education settings.
