Company Description Blessed Sacrament Parish is a longstanding Catholic community on the near west side of Madison, Wisconsin, founded in 1922 and now guided by the Schoenstatt Fathers. The parish is committed to forming active disciples who love God and neighbor, grounded in the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community, and ministry. Blessed Sacrament School, a ministry of the parish since 1924, provides Catholic education from 3K through 8th grade, including early childhood Montessori programs.
Centrally located in Madison, the school offers a rigorous academic curriculum within a faith-filled environment where prayer, learning, community life, and service are integrated into daily school culture. The school enrollment is approximately 300 students.
Role Description The School Music Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Madison, WI, responsible for teaching music to students in multiple grade levels at Blessed Sacrament School. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging music lessons, introducing students to music theory and performance skills, and integrating liturgical and sacred music appropriate to a Catholic school setting. The teacher will prepare students for concerts, liturgies, and school events, direct ensembles or choirs as needed, and collaborate with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular learning.
Additional duties include assessing student progress, maintaining a positive classroom environment, communicating with families and colleagues, and contributing to the broader life and mission of the parish school community.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge, with the ability to teach these concepts to elementary and middle school students.
- Demonstrated Music Performance skills (such as vocal or instrumental) and experience leading student performances or ensembles.
- Background in Music Education, including effective instructional strategies for diverse age groups and learning styles.
- Proficiency in Piano sufficient to accompany student singing, school liturgies, and performances.
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field; appropriate teaching license or certification in music education preferred.
- Experience working in school or parish settings, ideally within Catholic or faith-based environments, and willingness to support the school’s spiritual mission is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and families.
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful teaching practices that support students of varied backgrounds and abilities.
