The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, and enjoys working with young children. Substitute teachers help provide consistent, high-quality care when classroom teachers are absent while gaining experience across our program.

CLP provides care for children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K/4K and also offers a summer camp program for children ages 6–12.
Our program is grounded in a play-based High Scope curriculum. Teachers create weekly lesson plans that take advantage of our downtown location and the many resources in our neighborhood, including local parks, the library, Farmers' Market, Capitol lawn, and nearby museums. Children and staff alike have opportunities to explore, learn, and have fun together.

What You'll Do- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
- Step into different classrooms and support teaching teams as needed.
- Follow classroom routines, schedules, and program expectations.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Support daily classroom activities, transitions, meals, and routines.
- Maintain a positive and flexible attitude as staffing needs change.
- Passion for early childhood education and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
- Takes initiative and anticipates the needs of the center as a whole.
- Flexibility and comfort to work with any age group, from infants through four-year-old kindergarten.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Meet physical requirements of the job including; lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, sitting on the floor, and walking long distances.
- Comfortable using email, calendars, and other basic technology.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have completed high school or its equivalent, as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
- Meet the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families group child care teacher qualifications or willingness to complete required training.
- Registry certificate or willingness to become a member.
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Willingness to complete licensing required pre-service certifications.
- Early childhood education experience with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Degree or credential in early childhood education or a related field.
