Lecturer Position
The Department of Operations and Information Management (OIM) in the Wisconsin School of Business invites applications for a non-tenure-track lecturer position to tentatively start in Spring 2027 (or after), with an annual instructional load equivalent to 18 credits (number of credits is determined based on Full Time Equivalent (FTE)). The primary teaching need is in two undergraduate courses:
Operations and Supply Chain Management (OTM 300) — an introductory core course covering topics such as process analysis, lean operations, quality, inventory, supply chain management, and service operations — and project management (OTM 452). Depending on qualifications and department needs, the Lecturer may also teach other OIM courses in areas such as business process improvement, service operations, business analytics, or supply chain management.
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds — including accomplished business professionals and academically trained educators — with relevant expertise from many settings, such as consulting, manufacturing, services, technology, or general management.
The Lecturer will join the OIM Department, where we integrate technology and operations to lead better organizations. Our vibrant faculty bring both world-class research and deep practitioner expertise into the classroom — research spanning areas such as digital platforms, health care, AI, supply chains, and sustainability, and practitioner backgrounds in areas such as product management, consulting, supply chain management, analytics, and business process improvement.
We offer three undergraduate majors — Operations and Technology Management, Supply Chain Management, and Information Systems — as well as an MS in Supply Chain Management and a PhD program. We also have a strong presence in the MS in Business Analytics program, the MBA programs, and the Consulting Certificate. The department is also home to two centers founded on the principles of cross-functional perspectives and industry engagement: the Erdman Center for Operations and Technology Management, focused on technology strategy and product management, and the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management.
Both centers play a central role in our MBA programs. The Erdman Center also runs our Certificate in Product Management, and the Grainger Center anchors our Supply Chain Management major and MS in Supply Chain Management.
This position can be extended in subsequent semesters to teach one or more of course(s) listed, or similar courses within the department. The FTE for this position has the potential to fluctuate depending on the number of classes taught. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
This position can be full or part-time, between 10-100%.
