The schedule for this position aligns with MMSD's 10-month Academic Calendar from September to June, with summers off.

About Our District

The Madison Metropolitan School District is the second largest school district in Wisconsin. The district serves a beautifully diverse population of more than 25,000 students. Purpose of the Position

Under general supervision, assist with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of school meals. Promote positive attitude and teamwork in the lunchroom in order to provide a pleasant experience for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follow all USDA/DPI and MMSD rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures

Comply with standards of sanitation and safety in all phases of the school food service program in accordance with all local and state health regulations

Collect cash and report meals from students and adults, including computer operation in variable operations such as school cafeteria or mobile food cart

Distribute food in proper portions

Clean tables, kitchen equipment, and general food service area

Help with accurate preparation of meals to ensure the highest quality food preparation and high standard of food safety

Dress appropriately per Employee Handbook

Respond timely to all communications received (e.g., email, voice message)

Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Ability and skill in the use and operation of a personal computer

Ability to count money accurately

Ability to deal effectively with diverse district personnel, students, and the community

Ability to ensure timely heating and serving of meals

Ability to read and follow written and verbal directions and maintain records

Ability to operate a cash register and handle money

Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds, odors and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and…
