Library Director – Knutson Memorial Library, Coon Valley, Wi

Knutson Memorial Library (KML) of Coon Valley, Wisconsin is seeking a creative enthusiastic, community-minded individual for the position of Library Director. The Library Director is responsible for budgeting, promotion, planning, managing staff, and programming.

• Implement policies of the library as established by the library board
• Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
• Prepare and oversee the annual library budget
• Recruit, hire, evaluate, and supervise library staff
• Manage and develop the library’s collection
• Develop and execute diverse programs that address needs of the community and library users and make the library more accessible to all
• Promote the library and its programming
• Recruit and guide library volunteers
• Utilize technology for collection development, materials circulation, promotion, programming, and other library functions
• Manage the facility

• Utilize excellent interpersonal skills
• Exhibit refined communication skills – verbal and written
• Supervise staff and volunteers and delegate responsibility

• Read and comprehend print information, including technical, statistical, and financial data
• Assist patrons with location and retrieval of materials or information by title, subject, and interest of library patrons
• Perform basic computer operations and troubleshoot
• Understand and implement instructions and directions
• Establish and maintain proper priorities and meet deadlines
• Produce and maintain accurate files and reports
• Lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis
• Work hours and assignments as required by the library board

• KML has approximately 900 cardholders
• Offers engaging children and adult programs
• Member of Winding Rivers Library System, which affords access to a diverse range of materials and resources
• Active and supportive Board of Trustees and Friends of the Library

• Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree (preferred)
• One year of library work (preferred)
• 54 post high school credits, half of which must be in liberal arts and sciences (preferred)
• Must be eligible to earn Wisconsin Grade 3 Library Certification
• Above mentioned credits and certification must be attained within 2 years of hire with 1st course completed within first year of hire
• Valid Driver’s License required

• The position is part-time – 28 hours per week, which includes daytime, evenings, and Saturdays.
• Pay: $20/hour

• Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
