The Department of Biochemistry ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, faculty position. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (ssNMR) and its application to biological systems or development of new NMR methods and technology. We welcome candidates committed to democratizing access to NMR through community engagement, outreach, and training in the tradition of the National Magnetic Resonance Facility at Madison (NMRFAM).
The successful candidate will join a strong and collaborative department with broad and complementary strengths across the biochemical sciences. Current research areas include structural biology, virology, metabolism, gene regulation, cell and molecular biology, chemical biology, biophysics, systems biology, synthetic biology and computational biology. The department fosters a highly interactive environment, with a culture of collaboration and intellectual exchange that supports interdisciplinary research and innovation.

The position is an academic (9-month) tenure‑track (junior) or tenured (mid‑career or senior) faculty position. The successful applicant will be expected to establish an ambitious, externally funded research program and contribute to our core missions of undergraduate and graduate teaching and service.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and directing a well‑recognized and extramurally funded research program; working collaboratively to develop NMRFAM technology, user outreach and training programs; teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations to educate a diverse student body; mentoring graduate students and supervising their research; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; contributing to professional and public service, and participating in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges.
