The Madison Metropolitan School District is the second largest school district in Wisconsin. The district serves a beautifully diverse population of more than 25,000 students. PurposeOf The Position
Under general supervision, assist with the food preparation, serving of school meals, cashiering, and banking duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Prepare meals accurately following standardized recipes to ensure high quality food products and the highest standards of food safety with assistance from the Cook II (At FPC volume of cooking examples are: 150 gal of taco meat filling, 500# of rice, #640 of pasta, 3000 mini muffins, 10,000 cookies, 60 pans of cake)
- Reconcile daily cash receipts, bank deposit and cash report
- Monitor cooking supplies and inventory
- Clean kitchen and general cooking area and equipment
- Operate various kitchen equipment, including combi oven, convection oven, fryer, grill, steamer, mixer kettles, slicer, and mixer
- Operate the cash register during meal periods
- Maintain student account records
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to read, follow directions, and maintain records
- Ability to deal effectively with diverse district personnel, students, and the community
- Ability to operate various commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to operate a cash register and handle money
- Knowledge of large-scale food production
- Knowledge of basic mathematical skills
- Serv Safe sanitation certified for successful completion of probation
- One year food service experience in a large scale food service operation or a combination of experience and formal training equivalent to one year
