Midwest Solar Power is seeking a Project Manager I to join our solar electric team. We are a growing, locally owned company that has been installing solar electric systems in the Madison area since 2009. Job Overview

As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in independently guiding residential solar installation projects from signed contract to completion. You’ll serve as the customer’s main point of contact and ensure an excellent customer experience. This is a technical project manager role and you will also be responsible for developing technical documentation including electrical diagrams, roof schematics, and completing structural analysis.

You’ll be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and utility approvals for the project, as well as receiving shipments and managing inventory related to your projects. The ideal candidate for this position will be well organized, have demonstrated technical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, a friendly demeanor, and be highly interested in joining the renewable energy industry.

Duties

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of residential solar installation projects from signed contract to project completion including:
  • Utilizing project management software to create a project plan.
  • Serving as primary customer contact throughout the project completion phase.
  • Managing electronic project documentation
  • Compiling, producing, and reviewing information, documentation and drawings needed to complete all required permit applications for customer projects including applicable building, zoning, and interconnection permits
  • Conducting structural load analysis and developing single line drawings
  • Coordinating with external parties such as AHJs and subcontractors
  • Managing permit and utility application submittals and timelines
  • Ensuring necessary equipment is procured
  • Receives shipments using a forklift; audits inventory
  • Provides technical analysis and support resolving common service and warranty issues.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of solar installation requirements and barriers

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of project management, or solar industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or similar field, preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, collaboration, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, attention to detail, and comfort with technical information
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
  • Proficiency with Asana or similar project management software.
  • Understanding of principles and techniques for structural load analysis.
  • Proficiency with safe forklift operation (preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of solar PV systems and design or the ability to quickly gain such understanding.
  • General understanding of basic residential building construction principles or the ability to quickly gain such understanding.
  • General understanding of ASCE code requirements, or the ability to quickly gain such understanding.
  • General understanding of electrical wiring and safety, including basic knowledge of NEC, or the ability to quickly gain such understanding.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and or Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • OSHA 10 or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire.
  • NABCEP PV Associate or equivalent, or ability to complete within 4 months of hire.

Pay

  • $26.50 - $32/hour
