Company Description Accurate-Airtight Exteriors is an energy efficiency construction company based in Waupaca and Madison, Wisconsin, operating since 1998 with over 75 years of combined industry experience. It also offers residential and multifamily energy assessments and air barrier construction services.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Energy Auditor role based in Madison, WI. The Energy Auditor will perform field inspections of commercial and residential buildings to assess air barriers, insulation, and overall energy performance. Daily responsibilities include conducting blower door tests, thermographic evaluations, and other diagnostic procedures, documenting findings, and preparing clear, data-driven reports. The role involves working directly with clients and project teams to explain results, recommend energy efficiency improvements, and support implementation of corrective measures.
The Energy Auditor will collaborate closely with construction and technical staff, follow safety and quality standards, and stay current with building science best practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Inspection and Auditing of building systems and envelopes.
- Knowledge of Energy Efficiency and Energy Management principles, particularly in residential and commercial structures.
- Strong Customer Service abilities, including clear communication of technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with building science, air barrier systems, insulation, and diagnostic tools (e.g., blower door equipment, infrared thermography).
- Ability to work safely in construction environments, including climbing ladders, working in confined or elevated spaces, and handling equipment.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills, with attention to detail in reports and data collection.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to job sites in the Madison area and occasionally beyond.
- Preferred:
Experience in energy auditing, construction, HVAC, or related fields; relevant certifications (e.g., BPI, RESNET, or similar) are a plus.
