HDR is looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in our Minneapolis, MN and Madison, WI office.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties include responsibility for knowledge and execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned, and the role is performed by an experienced, competent engineer who generally understands and can complete all technical requirements of projects of basic to moderate complexity.
- Assigns tasks and provides guidance to junior team members, and coordinates QC reviews for work performed by junior level engineers and/or designers.
- Works with Senior Engineers and the Business Class Leader to identify and develop specific technical expertise, and attends training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline.
- May assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR’s technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
- Responsible for quality control reviews of projects from other teams on an as‑needed basis.
- Works independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less‑experienced EITs and/or designers.
- Performs other duties as needed.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng).
- Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit).
