The Utility Construction Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring utility construction projects involving natural gas, electric, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure. This position ensures all construction activities comply with safety regulations, approved plans, specifications, and applicable federal, state, local, and company standards. The inspector serves as a third‑party representative of the utility or facility owner and plays a critical role in protecting public safety, infrastructure integrity, and project quality.

What it takes
  • Experience or knowledge in natural gas, electric, telecommunications, or municipal utility construction is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of utility safety practices, excavation standards, and damage prevention requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and navigating multiple locations daily.
  • Proficient with mobile technology and electronic reporting systems such as ArcGIS‑Survey
    123 and/or Field Maps is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with GPS instruments such as Trimble and/or Topcon preferred, but not required.
