Job Description

As a Systems Engineer in GE Health Care’s Bone & Metabolic Health (BMH) division, you will play a critical role in the design, integration, and validation of dual‑energy X‑ray absorptiometry (DXA) systems. You will lead cross‑functional efforts to ensure our bone densitometry products meet clinical, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with a mechanical background and a passion for delivering impactful healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead system‑level design and integration activities for DXA products, ensuring alignment with clinical and business needs.
  • Translate customer and regulatory requirements into system specifications and design inputs.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, and quality teams to ensure cohesive system architecture and performance.
  • Drive risk management activities, including FMEA and hazard analysis.
  • Lead verification and validation planning and execution, including test development and data analysis.
  • Support design reviews, technical documentation, and regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k)).
  • Investigate and resolve complex system‑level issues, including field complaints and manufacturing challenges.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, product development, or a related technical role.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, verification, and validation processes.
  • Experience with medical devices or regulated industries.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with DXA or other imaging modalities.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 standards.
  • Proficiency in tools such as DOORS, Solid Works, MATLAB, or similar.
