Job Purpose
The Experienced Engineer – Grid Operations Technology provides advanced engineering support for real-time grid operations platforms, including EMS/SCADA, operational models, and substation automation systems. This role focuses on reliable system performance, accurate operational data, and effective operator tools while supporting ongoing modernization and integration initiatives.
Core ResponsibilitiesNote:
This is not an all-inclusive listing.
- Support configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of EMS/SCADA systems across production, training, and test environments.
- Develop and maintain real-time operational models, telemetry mappings, and data validations to support accurate grid operations.
- Build, enhance, and maintain SCADA displays and visualization tools to support operator situational awareness.
- Support integration and testing of RTUs, PLCs, and field devices in coordination with field technicians and engineers.
- Assist with EMS upgrades, patching, testing, and system enhancements in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
- Analyze and resolve EMS/SCADA, telemetry, model, and display issues, support incident response and root‑cause analysis.
- Support operational analytics, EMS reporting, and data workflows aligned with regulatory and market requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, Engineering, GIS, and Market Operations on system integrations and grid modernization efforts.
- Document system changes, models, configurations, and procedures in accordance with engineering and compliance standards.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- Several years of experience supporting utility operational technology systems, including EMS/SCADA
- Experience with real-time operational modeling, telemetry, and grid operations
- Exposure to utility communications protocols and market-aligned operations preferred
This hybrid role is based at our Madison, WI headquarters. While three days onsite is the minimum, team collaboration and business needs may require additional in‑office presence.
