EssentialJob Functions
- Conduct geological and hydrogeological assessments to support permitting and compliance for solid waste landfills and remediation projects.
- Lead field activities, including geologic/hydrogeologic investigations, sampling, and data collection, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- On occasion, serve as field team lead for complex investigations involving multiple personnel and subcontractors.
- Assist field staff with overcoming unexpected field conditions as they develop in the field, directing the most complex issues to others in the project management team while solving other issues in real time.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets for projects up to $500,000.
- Analyze and interpret geological/hydrogeological data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to clients and regulatory agencies.
- Understand and evaluate contaminant fate and transport in groundwater.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Stay current with industry regulations, best practices, and emerging technologies related to environmental consulting.
- Design field investigations, prepare site‑specific health and safety plans, and schedule field technicians and subcontractors to conduct the field investigations.
- Assist with data management tasks that may be assigned by the project management team. Such tasks may include managing junior staff in preparing data tables and figures, identifying data gaps, and identifying the information needed to fill such gaps, and completing calculations that will be checked by the project management team.
- Prepare portions of complex reports and other submittals, or complete less complex reports in their entirety, as assigned by the project management team.
- Manage your workload, in consultation with your supervisor, to ensure that required assignments are completed within the required time frames and budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology.
- Professional Geologist (PG) certification is a requirement.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental investigation, with a focus on solid waste landfills and remediation projects.
- Strong technical skills in geological and hydrogeological investigations/assessments, data analysis, and reporting.
