Position: Biochemistry Scientist 2– Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering

Role Summary

As a member of the Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering organization, you will partner closely with Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to mature processes from early development through technology transfer and post‑transfer sustaining. You will maintain accountability for process performance, robustness, and supply continuity and lead structured root‑cause investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement methods for the production of proteins and other biological or chemical products.
  • Conduct and support scientific experiments, including protein purification processes, contributing to a broad range of laboratory and research activities.
  • Author, review, and maintain high‑quality technical and procedural documentation to support manufacturing and operational activities.
  • Evaluate new and existing manufacturing processes and actively influence process design and execution to ensure effectiveness, scalability, robustness, and reproducibility.
  • Support quality investigations using established problem‑solving methodologies and sound experimental design to identify root causes of nonconformances and quality events.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and verification of right‑sized corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the transfer and successful implementation of manufacturing processes into routine operations, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness.
  • Identify continuous improvement and cost‑optimization opportunities; develop project plans, assess business impact and product/process risk, and lead initiatives through successful implementation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders to align on technical decisions, priorities, and execution strategies, ensuring timely and effective delivery of objectives.
Experience and Knowledge Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or manufacturing support within a regulated or science‑based environment.
  • Demonstrated success working within and influencing cross‑functional, matrixed teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Availability to be onsite five (5) days per week, with flexibility to work remotely on an as‑needed basis.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Compensation

The estimated base salary range for the Biochemistry Scientist 2 – Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering role based in the United States is $69,400–$104,200. If the level or location changes during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated. All employees are eligible for a variable cash program (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
