The Associate Engineer II, Automation supports plant engineering operations and continuous improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity. Responsible for the lifecycle of process control programming, hardware, and supporting network infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and SCADA programs and process control hardware for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot automation, electrical, and mechanical system issues; identify root cause and corrective actions.
- Define scope/deliverables and lead/work on automation improvement projects; plan, implement, and test improvements.
- Support projects to transfer new automated equipment to manufacturing facilities; collaborate on deliverables, risks, and timelines.
- Coordinate with contracted system integrators.
- Update/maintain engineering documents, electrical/network drawings, and equipment records.
- Advance SOPs for process control system administration, maintenance, and change management.
- Serve as super user for simple automation systems (e.g., Environmental Monitoring); perform administrative tasks.
- Execute administrative/maintenance tasks (version reviews, backups, patching).
- Partner with IS&I to troubleshoot network infrastructure and hardware.
- Ensure compliance with internal/external requirements via good engineering and change management.
- Provide front-line troubleshooting for business continuity; second-level support for instrumentation and wiring.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or similar.
- 3+ years in an Automation Engineering role.
- PLC and/or SCADA programming experience.
- Understanding of FDA compliance; awareness of cGMP/GAMP.
- Ability to prioritize timelines; developing communication/interpersonal and technical writing skills.
- Siemens (STEP 7, WinCC, Process Historian); commissioning/qualification/change management in regulated environments.
- Process instrumentation troubleshooting; mechanical integration/troubleshooting.
- CAD for electrical/automation drawings; process control network administration.
- Wisconsin pay range: $75,000 USD - $90,000 USD.
