SummaryKapur is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Design Engineer/Project Manager to manage and lead WisDOT transportation projects in various locations across Wisconsin. This position is based in Madison, WI, where you will play a critical role in continuing to grow our transportation group. The role will actively manage and design WisDOT transportation projects, assist with training/mentoring younger engineers, recruit/hire additional staff, and perform business development activities with existing and new clients.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage roadway and structural projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress to meet project objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, communicating project status and resolving issues promptly.
- Collaborate with teams to coordinate project tasks and deliverables.
- Confirm project compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Identify project risks and challenges.
- Prepare and present project reports and updates to clients.
- Contribute to the design and engineering of roadway and structural projects.
- Build client relations, prepare proposals, and bring in additional site design work.
- Assist with recruitment and hiring of additional site design staff.
- Experience designing and managing transportation projects for WisDOT or other municipal clients.
- Strong work ethic, self‑motivation, attention to detail, high organizational skills, and enthusiasm for transportation projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Customer service focus, with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Flexibility to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing client expectations.
- Problem‑solving abilities, especially in areas where documentation is limited or lacks standardization.
- Proficient in engineering software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and/or other relevant tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (SharePoint, One Drive, Outlook, etc.) and document control management software.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in transportation design.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License in Wisconsin preferred.
